In terms of numbers, the most important element of the Israeli Army is, of course, the infantry, which is formed into divisions. This, in turn, is divided into 2-3 brigades, consisting of 2,000 to 5,000 people. Each brigade, in turn, is divided into 2 to 5 battalions. Since 2002, a single battalion consists mainly of two infantry companies and a platoon of support weapons. The primary small arms of the Israeli infantry are assault rifles from the M16 family, as well as the M4 and CAR-15. The Tavor rifle of Israeli production is also in service. The basic manual machine guns are the Negev and the FN MAG. It is worth noting that the IDF motorized and mechanized infantry units use very well-armored Achzarit, Namer and Nagmachon tracked transporters.
